About Just Kampers Insurance

Just Kampers Insurance got started back in 1998 with a mission to make great quality campervan insurance available around the UK.

We’re really proud to say that since then, we’ve become one of the UK’s leading campervan insurance specialists, as well as being able to offer great rates on insurance for a whole range of other vehicles.

Here’s a bit of background about us, how Just Kampers Insurance got started, and why we’ve got so many great reviews from our customers.

It all started with Just Kampers

We work closely with our sister company Just Kampers which was founded in September 1989.

Mark Reynolds set up Just Kampers on his 22nd birthday and ran it as a small workshop repairing older camper vans in Surrey and Hampshire. Everyone at Just Kampers is really involved in the VW community, and over those first ten years JK morphed into the parts supplier that it is today.

Fast forward to 1998, when Mark had a motor insurance claim which did not go well at all.
Back then the Just Kampers website included a huge online forum called Kamper Chat, and Mark logged in to vent about the problems he was having with his insurance claim to fellow VW owners on the forum.

Reading through the replies, he soon realised he wasn’t the only one who’d had bad service from general ‘High Street’ insurers, so Mark boldly said, “We should offer proper insurance, with agreed value, tailored to VWs” and the rest, as they say, is history!

Just Kampers Insurance got started that very year, and it’s been going strong ever since.

That drive to offer tailored campervan insurance at great prices has never faded, and we still go the extra mile to make sure you get cover that properly protects you and your camper.

From fax to the world wide web

If you find an old Just Kampers parts catalogue, you’ll see that we used to run Just Kampers Insurance adverts with a “fax your details” page! Very old school, but by the millennium Just Kampers Insurance was already appearing alongside Just Kampers at the bigger VW shows such as VolksWorld and Vanfest (which later became Busfest).

In the early 2000’s we went to the new world of a website for Just Kampers Insurance, and by the early 2010’s we started to offer online quoting, which seems pretty ordinary now but at the time was ground-breaking!

Today we are still tailoring our offering towards what you, the owner, wants and needs.
